Ever since 1965, International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12th May every year. It is the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the woman who is generally seen as the founder of modern nursing. On this day, nurses and carers often organise meetings and conventions about patient care, and it is a great way to put the profession in the spotlight. Many healthcare institutions celebrate this special day by giving extra attention to their all-important nursing staff. Nowadays, some refer to this day as ‘Healthcare Day’.
